  • Dallas Alumnae Chapter Celebrating 90 Years of Sisterhood

The Dallas Alumnae Chapter was originally founded upon the graduation of the first senior class of Nu Kappa Chapter of Southern Methodist University.  The main function of the early alumnae chapter was to provide support for Nu Kappa.

Following a couple of inactive periods, including the Depression and World War II, the alumnae chapter was reactivated in the 1940s.  Meetings consisted of monthly luncheon gatherings and support of the Frontier Nursing Service in Kentucky, then the national philanthropy of Alpha Omicron Pi.

In 1959, many members had small children, so it was decided to move meeting times in the evening.  Martha Griffith Houston, Pi Kappa, organized this group.  This was the beginning of our present-day alumnae chapter.

Among our active alumnae members, we have several international officers and foundation committee members.  Many have been recipients of Rose Awards and Founders' Awards.

Being a member of Alpha Omicron Pi is for life, and the Dallas Alumnae Chapter welcomes you as you continue that commitment.
